Maya Yamazaki, PhD

Before joining the Nicoll lab, I did research in the Sakimura lab at the Brain Research Institute at Niigata University in Japan. In the Sakimura lab, I generated a number of different mouse knock-out lines to study the expression pattern and role of TARPS, transmembrane AMPA-receptor regulatory proteins. This work gave me extensive experience on how to create gene-manipulated mice. But, I want to do “Science”. I therefore joined the Nicoll lab to investigate the regulatory mechanisms of AMPA receptors with TARPs.
